I've been in Flint, Michigan the last few days. I spent some time at Factory Two with sticker-master Marcus Bieth as he churned out a fresh batch of precision cut sticker sets for the pin packs. The machine is a miracle of modern technology as it prints with durable solvent inks at very high resolution on vinyl and then cuts that vinyl extremely quickly and accurately. Below is video of the machine cutting the screen images after having printed them:

I'll be back in San Francisco next week and I'll start assembling these sticker packs with the pins and packaging. There are so many pins reserved so far! Please tell a friend about this crazy TV saga. Thanks for your support!

TV Pin Packaging

The first box of pin packaging arrived the other day. I'm really happy with the way they turned out and I think you're going to like them too. If you want to see a video of how everything fits together, check it out here on my Instagram feed. I managed to package up all of the pins that I have in my possession and I can't do more until the next batch arrives from the manufacturer next week.

In the meantime, I've been experimenting with some different ways to make wearable glowing TVs. A  couple of years ago, I bought an entry level embroidery machine and spent some time trying to make art with it. Occasionally, I bring it down off the shelf and so this time I thought it would be fun to make a TV patch. I even happened to have glow-in-the-dark thread leftover from way-back-when. To make it more interesting, I hooked my computer that runs the embroidery software up to my black-and-white TV. You can also see videos of that here and also here. The prototypes turned out pretty good, so I went ahead and contacted my favorite patch vendor to start on a small run of them. They sent me some pics today (bottom photos below) and I'm excited to get my hands on the finished glow-in-the-dark TV patches in-person. I'll be sure to keep you posted about them.

That's the update for today. The enthusiasm and support for this project has been off the charts! Like I said, I'll keep packaging them as long as you keep ordering them. I never expected it to be this crazy and I want to thank all of you for your encouragement. I'm off to Flint, Michigan this week to check in with family and while I'm there I'll spend some time at Factory Two where they're running another batch of TV stickers for this project. Stay tuned.

Good morning. Yesterday, Laughing Squid posted a nice write-up of this project, chronicling the entirety of the Black & White TV saga from the thrift store to Indiegogo. Laughing Squid has been a long-time supporter of me and what I do and I love them a bunch. If you like interesting things, you will like their website. And then, Rusty Blazenhoff included a blurb about it in her most recent Rusty's Electric Dreams email newsletter! What a fantastic couple of days!

I've sent an updated version of the sticker sheet off to Factory Two for printing. Below is the latest version of the full sheet and some mock-ups of the new additions to the line-up.

And here's the photo reference of my General Electric Model 12XB9104V along with some doodles for the pin idea in my pocket-sized sketchbook.

Okay, that's the update. I'm awaiting finished product shipments and packaging supplies. Then, it's time to get some of these pins out to the world! Thanks again for your support and encouragement.

Hello. Just an update that the pins are more than 600% funded, which means that I've got a call in to the pin manufacturer for a lot more black and white TV pins. The card that holds the pin and stickers is off to press, the sticker pack is designed and ready to start printing, and shipping supplies are on the way!

So, thanks again for your support on this project. If you have a friend that would like to hear about it, please let them know about my campaign. Stay tuned for further developments. Have a great week!

Well, that escalated! Thank you!! We're well past double what I was hoping for and it looks like these pins going to get the royal treatment with stickers and packaging. I'm going to keep the fundraiser going so that everyone that wants a pin can get one. Thanks again. I'm floored.
